Sapulut has contributed 4 bundles of sawn timber to Forever Sabah. Forever Sabah is conducting a project to revive the old paddy lands in Kg. Lapasan and Kg. Tinuhan, located in Tuaran district.

The total area of the project is approximately 50 acres. About 43 families are taking part in this project. This project is also in partnership with University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and Yayasan Hasanah.

‘We are striving to revive community rice cultivation with new innovations, varieties, and techniques. It is a response to COVID-19 and the need to grow food sovereignty particularly amongst our rural communities’. – Madam Cynthia Ong, Forever Sabah.

Food security and management of forest landscapes are among the biggest challenges facing the world. Sapulut is glad to be able to do our small part in trying to overcome them.

Recently, gotong-royong activities were carried out by the communities on 8th July 2020 to install fences with sawn timbers from Sapulut around the project site.
